Speaking and Workshops
Leadership sessions built on real experience
Every session we offer comes from thirty-six years of leading schools and districts. That includes time as a teacher, principal, director, assistant superintendent and superintendent. The stories are real, the tools are practical, and people leave knowing what they will do differently on Monday.
The sessions draw on Dr. Robbie Adell's book, Realities in Educational Leadership: From the Principal's Desk to the Superintendent's Office. Many of the lessons apply in churches, nonprofits and businesses as much as in schools. Each session is adjusted to fit your group.
Topics
Leading with purpose
For new and aspiring leaders, and for experienced leaders who want to reconnect with why they started. We look at how a leader's purpose shows up in daily decisions, and how to plan a strong first 90 days in a new role.
Building and repairing trust
Trust is earned slowly and lost quickly. This session looks at the everyday actions that build trust, the ones that wear it down, and how to repair a relationship after a mistake.
Leading through crisis and change
Emergencies, sudden changes and public pressure test every leader. We cover how to communicate clearly when things are uncertain, how to prepare a team before a crisis, and how to bring people along when change meets resistance.
Building a healthy culture and keeping good people
Culture is shaped by what leaders do, allow and celebrate. This session covers hiring well, supporting people through their first years, and the conversations that help good people stay.
Well-being for educators and leaders
Exhaustion is not a personal failing, and it isn't solved with a pizza party. We look at what wears people down, what leaders can change in the workplace, and small habits that help people last.
Equity and belonging
Every student should be known by name and given what they need to reach a high goal. This session helps leaders examine their own assumptions, look at their data by student group, and build a school where every student and family belongs.
Making and explaining fair decisions
"Fair" doesn't always mean "the same." Leaders learn how to decide when everyone should get the same thing and when support should match need. They also practice explaining those decisions to staff, families and boards.
Keeping teaching and learning at the center
Email, meetings and daily emergencies can crowd out instruction. This session helps leaders protect time for classrooms, give teachers useful feedback, and keep the focus on student learning.
Budgeting around your priorities
A budget shows what an organization really values. We cover how to read a budget as a leader, match spending to priorities, handle cuts, and explain financial decisions openly.
Difficult conversations
Leaders in every field put off hard conversations, and the problems usually get bigger while they wait. This session gives leaders a simple way to prepare for and hold conversations that are honest, respectful and timely. It is designed for schools, churches, nonprofits and businesses.
